			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><img class="alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-62" title="windows7_01" src="http://techdairy.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/11/windows7_01-150x150.jpg" alt="windows7_01" width="150" height="150" /><a href="http://www.infoworld.com/d/windows/windows-7-quickly-displacing-vista-not-xp-582">Windows 7 is doing well as an upgrade to Windows Vista users.</a> Looks like I&#8217;m on the right side of the fence!  I&#8217;ve been using Windows 7 for about 6 months and I&#8217;ve got to say that it&#8217;s quite an improvement over Windows Vista.  While I hear that the windows shell for both Operating Systems are almost identical, Windows 7 is faster, runs better on a low spec machine, and has better driver integration.  I&#8217;ve used the same drivers in Windows 7 and Windows Vista, but in Windows Vista (the operating system that the drivers were made for) the drivers caused the machine to crash repeatedly.  WTF!</p>
<p>Anyway, even as I write this in the comfort of Snow Leopard, I&#8217;m a fan of Windows 7 and I recommend it to everybody running a windows machine.</p>

<p>I noticed that the companies they interviewed aren&#8217;t <em>exactly </em>who I would call &#8220;tech heavy&#8221; companies.  They use Sunoco (the petroleum company), Meuller Water Products (??), and Oregon State university.  Hmm.. SUPER credible enterprise sources.</p>
<p>Regardless, this got me to reminiscing about the good ole days, when milk was brought to your doorstep and Operating System upgrades weren&#8217;t just annoyances that only upgraded the look and feel and not really much else.  Operating System upgrades used to MEAN something.  You had to do it or you couldn&#8217;t work efficiently.  You were actually getting an upgrade.  Today, Operating System upgrades [from Microsoft] aren&#8217;t necessary in order for the majority of computer users to get their work done.  I mean, XP has been around for 8 years.  DEAR GOD that&#8217;s ancient!</p>
<p>Can somebody please make an Operating System that actually increases productivity?  That would be neat&#8230;</p>
